Cayman Daytime Wedding| Laura + Ben

October 11, 2019

Today I am thrilled to share and Ben and Laura’s Cayman daytime wedding at the Westin Grand Cayman Beach Resort and Spa.

The couple met 7.5 years ago and with an 11 year age gap and 2 children involved they both stepped into this relationship very lightly. 7 and a half years later and they have never spent a night apart- they actual spend every minute of our day together. We run a successful business together and obviously a home also. The night before their Cayman Wedding was actually the first night they ever spent apart since being together.

The wedding was extremely special to them, as both living in the UK. Ben doesn’t see a lot of his family who reside in Florida permanently. Both families met for the first time in Cayman for the wedding.

I ask Laura to tell me her dress story and she said: “I left trying on dresses until about 8months before my actual wedding. I think it was nerves of being really stressed out trying to find ‘the one’. After searching online and thinking I had finally found said one, I booked a trial at Riki Dalal’s flagship store in Mayfair London. After falling in love with this dress, to my horror my dream dress was not flattering for my particular build, it actually really upset me! After trying a few other dresses all very similar to my ‘dream dress’ my dressing assistant then brought over a dress that was literally the polar opposite to anything I had been looking for and i almost refused to even try it on. After reassuring me what she was doing was her speciality I tried the dress on and before it was even zipped or clipped I knew she had found me the dress of my dreams!”

How did you feel during your vows or just before you walked down the aisle? “Nothing but magic… So many emotions ran though e finally getting to live this moment in real life! And seeing how happy and full of emotions Ben was it hit me so hard a d I couldn’t stop crying.. With happiness obviously!”

How would you describe your overall wedding experience? “Magical. The day was filled with more love and magic than I ever could have imagined. As a collective, the Westin, Equilibrium Events and Janet made our day the best it could’ve been and more. We will be forever grateful!”

What photography related advice would you offer to a couple? “Let your photographer do there thing! They’re the professional after all, and if you spend your day worrying about getting all the shots you had imagined or what you look like I’m every photo it will show in your photos!”

How was your experience taking photos/working with me on your wedding day? “An absolute dream! We are soooo grateful to have be paired with Janet to work with on our special day! There couldn’t have been anyone better suited to capture our memories! We were so glad to have her there!”

What was memorable about taking pictures with your bridal party? “It was lovely having Janet In the room with the girls before the ceremony. She caught so many good, natural shots of me and my closest females getting ready and amazing ones of me and my stepdaughter!”

What were you most anxious, nervous or fearful about regarding your wedding day and what was the outcome? “I hate being centre of attention. It makes me so nervous having a crowd look at me and I can honestly say that was the only thing I had nerves about towards the whole ceremony… Oh and a random tropical downpour obviously.”

What made you choose the Cayman Islands for your destination wedding? “Ben’s brother got married there 5 years ago and it being our first visit then, we absolutely fell deep in love with the island! We’ve returned for vacation every year since. In all honestly now, we couldn’t even imagine marrying anywhere else in the world!”
