When Sam and I first chatted about their upcoming Villas Pappagallo wedding, I immediately knew that I would absolutely love everything she had planed. Cam has been coming to the Cayman Islands since he was born, visiting with family and staying at Pappagallo every time. When Sam and Cam started dating, it wasn’t long before she fell in love with it as well. To be able to bring down their family and friends to a place that has so much meaning to them was special. The stunning setting included all of their favourite elements of Cayman: the beach ceremony with ocean backdrop, followed by a beautiful meal at their favourite island restaurant (Ristorante Pappagallo). The ceremony and reception were elegantly decorated by Celebrations Ltd.
Cam shared their story with me.
“I met Sam shortly before she left on a month-long trip to Europe. We ended up chatting over text almost the whole time she was away, and wanted to see each other soon after she returned to Toronto. I was planning to see a concert with some friends, to which I invited Sam as well. As we got closer to the date, many friends ended up bailing, but one other remained. So, Sam and I went on our “first date” with my friend Ron, who unintentionally became the third wheel.”
And then I had to ask of course how he pop the question.
“I knew I would need to be very sneaky if I wanted to truly surprise Sam with a ring. She has a way of playing detective and finding out secrets pretty quickly, especially for something this significant. One morning last August, it was a beautiful summer day, and I asked Sam if she wanted to have a coffee on the back patio. Instead of sitting down right away, she thought it would be a great opportunity to sweep the back deck and tidy the yard, which caused a bit of mild anxiety. Eventually, we sat down and had coffee, then I said some nice things and got down on one knee, to which Sam replied “Ah, fuck!”. She was totally surprised and probably a bit upset she didn’t figure it out sooner.
